GM Facilities Appear in Transformers 4: Age of Extinction

COCOA, Flor. – While Chevy's Corvette, Camaro and Trax steal the spotlight in the new Transformers 4: Age of Extinction movie, you will also notice some General Motors facilities if you pay attention to the background of certain scenes.

GM's Design Center at the Warren Technical Center, Milford Proving Grounds, and Vice President of Global Design, Ed Welburn's office all make appearances in the movie. Director Michael Bay utilized the GM Design Center as the movie's headquarters for the United States Central Intelligence Agency, shooting scenes in the lobby, staircase, design dome, design executive garage, and VR room. The office of one of the CIA executives was even staged in Welburn's impressive office. In fact, Welburn himself played the executive, though all of his classic auto memorabilia had to be removed from his office and replaced with CIA props for the scene.

Other GM facilities that appear in Transformers 4: Age of Extinction include the Wind Tunnel Facility at the Warren Technical Center and roads at GM's Milford Proving Grounds which were used to shoot many of the highway scenes rather than clogging up actual roads. The movie's film crew even had to pay special attention to make sure they didn't interrupt the work of the engineers and designers too much while they were filming.

2015 Corvette Z06: Most Powerful Corvette Ever Built

New GM "GearOn" Trademark

Hurricane Preparation Tips

COCOA, Flor. – It's officially hurricane season and while we are all keeping our fingers crossed that we make it through the next few months without any severe storms, you just never know what is going to happen which is why being prepared for a hurricane is so important. We all get wrapped up in the schedules of our daily lives, but make sure you take the time to prepare for an emergency with these key hurricane preparation tips.

Hurricane Preparation Tips

-Make an emergency kit stocked with a weeks worth of non-perishable food and water, flashlights, batteries, a battery powered radio, medication (make sure you are well supplied with those you take on a regular basis), first aid kit, blankets, toiletries, etc. If you don't already have extra cell phone batteries, you may want to get some and make sure they are charged if a storm is coming incase you cannot charge your phone. Making a portable emergency kit to keep in your car is also important in case you need to evacuate quickly.

-Develop a family emergency plan that includes the safest place to take shelter in your home, alternative meeting locations, ways to contact each other, and an out of town contact. Don't forget to also determine where you would go if you need to evacuate, and the hurricane evacuation route you would take to get there.

-Be proactive about protecting your home by making any small repairs needed to the roof, windows, down spouts, etc., and trim any trees or bushes that could cause damage in the case of high winds. You should also make sure that your homeowners insurance is adequate and keep in mind that flood insurance is not often covered under your homeowners policy.

-While you're protecting your home, protect your belongings too by updating your home inventory. You can do this quickly by walking through your home with a video camera or smartphone. However, you'll also want to keep a record of large purchases including the cost of the item, when you bought it, the model, and serial numbers.

-Don't forget to protect your pets too. The first thing you should do is update their ID tags if needed, and you could also consider permanent forms of identification such as microchipping or a recovery database. You may want to keep their needs in mind when preparing your emergency kit/plan too.

-As part of your evacuation plan, make sure to have cash on hand. Even if you plan on staying with friends, family, or have hotel reservations, ATMs, banks, and credit card machines may be down after a major hurricane. A family of four should aim to have about $500 on hand if an emergency weather situation is possible.

Convertible 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 Debut

2015 Chevy Silverado HD High Country First Look

COCOA, Flor, – The 2014 New York International Auto Show is near but you won't have to wait until then to get your first look at the 2015 Chevy Silverado HD High Country! The High Country trim has just been extended to the 2500 and 3500 series HD models, and we're giving you a sneak peek at the new photos!

The High Country trim takes the Silverado to the next level on the inside and out. You'll first notice the chrome horizontal grille, body color bumpers, chrome wheels, and 6-inch tubular side steps, all complimented by special High Country badging. While the exterior is impressive, it's the interior that will really blow your socks off. Filled with saddle brown perforated leather, the truck's seats are both heated and cooled so you can enjoy a comfortable ride. There's no shortage on technology either with an 8-inch touchscreen, Chevy MyLink suite, Bose audio, and park assist functions. If you want to up the luxury even further, you can add a sunroof, navigation, rear-seat Blu-Ray player, oversized power heated towing mirrors, heated steering wheel, power adjustable pedals, and driver alert system with lane departure and forward collision alert.

Just because you're living the high life inside the 2015 Chevy Silverado HD High Country doesn't mean that it's any less capable. 2014 Chevy Malibu Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Rating

COCOA, Flor.– It's something that is at the front of everyone's minds, especially lately: vehicle safety. The system monitors the distance from the Malibu to the car in front of it, and will sound an alert if it senses a possible collision!
