Rob Dyrdek Sets World Record Driving Chevy Sonic

COCOA, Flor.—Television star and former professional skateboarder, Rob Dyrdek, took on a challenge in one of Chevrolet's own: the Sonic. He was confidant that the Sonic could be his partner-in-crime when it came to setting a Guinness World Record, and he was right!

Performed before a crowd at Six Flags Magic Mountain, Dyrdek set a world record for the Farthest Reverse Ramp Jump by a Car while driving the Chevy Sonic, going a distance of 89-feet 3¼-inches! He successfully landed the jump and was able to drive away from the stunt. The performance can be seen on the season finale of MTV's “Fantasy Factory,” which is set to air on March 13 at 10:30 p.m. EST/PST. In the mean time, go ahead and catch a glimpse below:

This wasn't Dyrdek's first achievement in the Sonic and we're sure it won't be his last! In 2011, he performed a 360-degree kick-flip off of a ramp driving the Chevy Sonic and impressed an enthusiastic crowd. Being a Chevy guy, Dyrdek knew the Sonic had the Chevy performance he was looking for to set a Guinness World Records title.

Dyrdek needed a car that offered speed, performance, and safety! Safety is a top priority when it comes to Chevy and the Sonic offered Dyrdek just what he needed. With 10 standard air bags and a body structure made with ultra-strong steel, the Sonic was the right candidate for the job.

Congratulations to Rob Dyrdek for setting a world record driving the Chevy Sonic. But you don't have to be Rob Dyrdek to drive a Sonic! Stop by Bob Steele Chevrolet and test drive one today.
