convertible 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 debuted, becoming the most powerful
convertible ever produced by the automaker!
In fact, it’s been 51 years since the factory has offered
the convertible option! The last convertible version was offered in 1963 and
since then the lightweight convertible structures haven’t been able to handle
the Corvette’s continuously increasing power. However, even in just the past
five years, technological advancements have made the return of the Z06
convertible a possibility! Thanks to
computer-aided engineering, metallurgy, and manufacturing
techniques, a 20 percent stiffer aluminum chassis was developed, allowing a
Chevy Corvette Z06 convertible that can handle the performance car’s braking,
cornering, and acceleration to be born!
Plus, the 2015 Corvette Z06 convertible is just as capable
at the coupe, making it one of the most capable drop-tops on the market! Both
versions offer the same power and capability, the only difference being the provisions
for mounting the power folding top – repositioned seatbelt mounts and relocated
trans and differential coolers to the underbody. So before you set out to see
what the Z06 convertible is made of – a new LT4 6.2-liter supercharged V8
engine capable of 625 HP to be exact – pick one of the four thick fabric top
colors and your choice of the three basic configurations: Standard, Carbon
Fiber Aero Package, or Z07 Package.
