Two Chevrolet Vehicles Make J.D. Power's Most Dependable Vehicles List

COCOA, Flor.– This year marks the 25th year that J.D. Power and Associates conducted their Vehicle Dependability study. While the study's name speaks for itself (revealing the most dependable vehicles), this year's test also includes a new aspect that makes the winners even more significant. We're excited to announce that two Chevrolet vehicles made J.D. Power's list of most dependable vehicles on the road.

Rather than just searching out the most dependable vehicles on the road, this year J.D. Power and Associates also tracked the problems that owners experienced over a 12-month period. Tracking the experiences of original owners of 2011-model year vehicles, it was determined that the average number of vehicle problems actually increased 6% from 2013. But, a few vehicles made the final cut to be recognized at J.D. Power and Associates Most Dependable Cars, including two Chevrolet models!

The Chevrolet Volt and Chevy Camaro both made J.D. Power's list of the most dependable vehicles in their respective categories: compact car and midsize sporty car. The Chevy Volt was a surprise win since it was the car's first model year and it managed to beat out the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic. In the midsize sporty car segment, the Camaro stole the show after being the only car to perform above the segment's average! It also earned perfect scores in every dependability subcategory! Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Indianapolis 500 Pace Car

COCOA, Flor.– It's the greatest spectacle in racing, and who better to pace the race than two Indy 500 legends? It has just been announced that the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is the 2014 Indianapolis 500 pace car and three-time Indy 500 champion, Dario Franchitti will be behind the wheel. -Do a quick vehicle check. You know what they say: April showers bring May flowers. Spring rain hinders driving visibility so making sure your lights and wiper blades are in good working order is important to ensure safety on the road. If your lights are dull or burnt out and your wiper blades can't properly remove water from your windshield, you won't be able the road ahead. While you're checking your lights and wiper blades, check your tire pressure too. Winter weather can deflate your tires, and as a bonus proper tire pressure can help to increase fuel economy.

-Reduce your speed in the rain. Wet pavement increases your vehicle's stopping distance and spring's first few rainy days can result in exceptionally slippery roads due to oil and other leaked fluids that have built up on the roads. So when the rain starts to fall, make sure to slow down and increase your stopping distance. 

-Be especially aware of your surroundings. As the weather warms up, people and animals become more active outdoors. Whether it's motorcycles, bikes, runners, or walkers, always make sure to look twice before making any traffic maneuvers. Plus, animals become more active too as they come out of hibernation and begin mating season, so keep your eyes and attention on the road ahead of you.

New 2016 Chevy Cruze Spy Photos

COCOA, Flor.– We're still about a year away from the second generation Chevrolet Cruze's debut, but it looks like we just got a peek at the most production ready version we've seen yet in the new spy photos of the 2016 Chevy Cruze! The camo may be fooling our eyes, but it sure looks like the compact sedan is taking some styling cues from it's fellow sedan, the Malibu.

While the next-gen Cruze was originally supposed to be released this year, the automaker decided to keep in it development for a while longer, pushing back its debut until 2015. And in the new 2016 Chevy Cruze spy photos from Indian Autos Blog, we're picking up on some Malibu influences. Specifically, the new photos highlight more defined rear haunches, new split section taillight design, and an added trunk-mounted brake light. Plus, it now looks like the 2016 Cruze will sport a Malibu-inspired grille compared to the conventional two-tier Chevrolet grille that we originally saw.

But that doesn't mean we won't see even more changes before the new Cruze hits the streets. Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Wheel Rotation

COCOA, Flor.– Developing the most track-capable Camaro in history requires some critical thinking by engineers to improve already impressive performance and capability. But with the Camaro Z/28 it also led to some unexpected road blocks, like the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28's wheel rotation problem–the result of pure power.

Engineers included only the best suppliers in the Camaro Z/28's design, and combined with its capability, the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28's wheel rotation problem arose. The performance car's Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires and the Brembo carbon-ceramic brake rotors provide such intense traction and up to 1.5 g in deceleration force, that they were actually causing the wheels to rotate in the tires! The Chevy engineers realized this after marking one of the tires with a chalk line relative to the valve system on the wheel at the beginning of the lap, then realizing the tire had rotated at least a full 360 degrees at the end of the lap!

First the team tested a common racing solution to combat slippage: using an abrasive paint around the bead of the wheel where the tire meets the rim. However, tests proved it wasn't strong enough! More texture on the wheel's surface was just what the Z/28 needed and 'media blasting' did just the trick. Media blasting is a technique that uses an air gun to shoot a gritty material at the wheel's surface, which results in greater texture in the paint for the wheel to grip, and therefore no more slippage!

COCOA, Flor.– The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray may soon have another impressive award to add to its collection if it can beat out some impressive competition. At a recent press conference at the Geneva Auto Show in Switzerland, nominees for the World Car of the Year awards were announced, and guess who received a World Performance Car of the Year Nomination–the Corvette Stingray!

Chevrolet to Offer Beats Music App via Chevrolet AppShop

COCOA, Flor. - Chevy works hard to continually improve your driving experience - something Chevy drivers know and appreciate! Adding to the list of entertainment features in your vehicle, Chevrolet has announced they will offer a Beats Music App via the Chevrolet AppShop in automobiles later this year.

Beats Music is a great app the gives the option to hear music from every genre imaginable. There are a few ways to listen to music via the Beats Music app, one being create your own playlist. You can create a playlist and save it through your mobile account, and then access the playlist through the Beats Music app in your Chevy vehicle. You can also play music by listening to playlists created by professionals in the music industry. No matter the song you want to hear, it's all available for your ears at the touch of your fingertips.

To download the Beats Music app, drivers will need to connect to the Chevrolet AppShop through the high-speed 4G LTE network and/or data plan that comes with OnStar in Chevrolet vehicles. Once the app is downloaded, it will be accessible on the MyLink screen in select vehicles. A trial or paid Beats Music account will be required to actually play the music.

Chevrolet is planning to offer a Beats Music app via the Chevrolet AppShop later this year, however, there are currently an incredible amount of features to know and love now. St. Patrick's Day Dessert Ideas

COCOA, Flor. - St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner, which means leprechauns, shamrocks, and all things green will be making an appearance. Whether you go out for this Irish holiday, stay in, or have a party with friends and family, here are a few St. Patrick's Day Dessert Ideas that will surely make you feel lucky.

1. Mint Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip. You'll need:

• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature 
• 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
• 1/4 cup granulated sugar
• 2 tsp. pure mint extract
• 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
• 1/4 tsp. salt
• 1 cup flour
• 3 tbsp. half and half
• 8-12 drops green food coloring
• 1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

To make this deliciously easy dip, you'll need to start by creaming the butter and sugars in a medium size mixing bowl. Once the mixture is light and fluffy, you'll need to add the extracts and salt then mix until ingredients are combines. Using a mixer, you'll want to thoroughly mix the ingredients together and slowly add the flour until the mixture becomes thick. Add the half and half and continue mixing the ingredients. Finally, add the food coloring and chocolate chips. Once everything is mixed, you can serve and enjoy! 

2. Lucky Chocolate Pretzel Bites. You'll need: 

• 1 bag of small pretzels (can be square or round)
• 1 bag of chocolate melting discs or Hershey's Kisses
• 1 bag of M&M's

This recipe is unbelievably simple. First, you'll need to preheat your oven to 350 degrees and put a piece of foil on a cookie sheet. Lay out your pretzels and lay a piece of chocolate on each pretzel. put your sheet in the oven and let the chocolate melt - this could be anywhere from a minute to two minutes. You don't want your chocolate to melt into a gooey mess, you only want the chocolate to become soft and mushy. Immediately after pulling the sheet out of the oven, press a M&M on to each piece. After that, you'll need to let them cool for a short while, but then they will be ready to devour. Be warned: these are very addicting!

3. Thin Mint Puppy Chow. You'll need:

• Chocolate Thin Mint Pieces:
• 5 cups Rice Chex cereal
• 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
• 12 Thin Mint cookies, finely crushed
• 1/4 cup powdered sugar
• Green Pieces:
• 5 cups Rice Chex Cereal
• 1 1/2 cup Minty Melts or white chocolate chips
• Green food dye to make them green (gel only)
• 3/4 cup powdered sugar
• Extra Thin Mints roughly chopped

Starting with the Chocolate Thin Mint pieces, you'll need to place cereal in a large bowl and set aside. In a small microwaveable bowl, melt the chocolate and stir until smooth. Pour the melted chocolate over the cereal and gently stir until the cereal is completely coated. Add the finely crushed cookies and powdered sugar, then stir again. You can also put the cereal in a paper bag and shake until the pieces are coated in the sugar. Dump out onto a cookie sheet and let cool. For the green pieces, you'll do the exact same thing. After both the Chocolate Thin Mint and green pieces are cool, you'll need to mix them together and add extra Thin Mints for decoration.

Follow Up: Corvette Museum Cars Recovered

COCOA, Flor.– On Monday we were excited to share the news that crews were beginning the daunting task of rescuing the eight rare Corvettes that were swallowed by a 40-ft. wide sinkhole at the National Corvette Museum. Just two days later we have an update on the Corvette Museum cars being recovered – the first three vehicles have officially been removed!

The first two vehicles, a 2009 Corvette ZR1 Blue Devil and 1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Edition Corvette didn't pose too much of an issue for crews, but the third vehicle, a 1962 black Corvette was a bigger challenge since a 5-ton slab of concrete was resting on the front end. To avoid further damage, workers had to remove the concrete slab and the car at the same time. With the help of two cranes, they managed to pull it off, which meant that in just two days three Corvette Museum Cars were recovered from the sinkhole!

Crews cannot attempt to remove any additional vehicles until they can further stabilize the sinkhole, which could take two to three weeks. Corvette Museum Cars Recovered

COCOA, Flor.– Last month a 40-ft. wide sinkhole opened up under the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY, and then one of our worst fears came true – eight rare Corvettes were swallowed by the hole leaving us to wonder if they could ever be recovered. The good news is that today the process of recovering the Corvette Museum cars began!

Crews got to work this morning in an effort to rescue three of the most accessible vehicles this week. The first of the Corvette Museum cars recovered was a 2009 Corvette ZR1 "Blue Devil" that was sitting on top of the rubble. It's positioning left it in such good condition that it was able to start up and drive away from the scene after it was lifted out!

Next, crews will get to work rescuing a 40th Anniversary Corvette from the sinkhole. Like the Blue Devil, this Vette is also uncovered so hopefully it is in just as good condition. The third Corvette to be recovered this week, a 1962 model, appears to pose the biggest challenge. A five-ton slab from the museum floor is resting on the car and both must be removed simultaneously, complicating the process. After that, the museum will begin to work on uncovering the remaining five vehicles followed by repairs to the sinkhole and museum building.
